Markets Manager

Bakeri Baltzersen are looking for a Markets Manager to head up a team who will attend markets across Yorkshire.

Bakeri Baltzersen bakes a range of long fermented sourdough loaves, rye, ciabatta and more traditional yeasted white and granary style loaves/rolls. We also bake pastry and viennoiserie from scratch.

We have taken begun attending markets with a regular pitch at Northallerton and will be adding Barnard Castle and Richmond in the next couple of weeks.

Your role will be to attend markets then grow and oversee a team who will trade at markets across Yorkshire.

Duties will include:

Managing stock levels for each market to maximise sales and minimise waste.

Create loading lists to make sure that each pitch has the necessary equipment to safely and effectively merchandise their products.

Play a role in developing additional products for markets by engaging with the Head Baker and Directors.

Hire a team and manage the weekly schedule.

Recce and identify new markets to attend.

Ensure accurate reporting of sales and control of takings.

What do we ask from you?

This role will suit someone with hands-on sales experience, a keen interest in food and a desire to work with a growing small business. This role is about working with people, internally and externally so communication skills will be key. You will need to be organised and have the confidence to manage a team.

The majority of markets are held outside so you should be ready to work outdoors.


Most markets nowadays require you to bring your own stall and even if they didn't you'll need to be able to get the stock on site - so you'll need to be able to drive a van. A clean licence makes achieving insurance much easier.


We initially see this as as being 4 x 10 hr shifts (6am - 4pm) worked Wed - Sat but you may look to change days/hours as the team grows and depending on which markets are attended.


This position is a full-time post offering a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.


The pay for this position is £12.00/hr.


Holidays are calculated on an hourly basis at Baltzersen’s and you accrue holiday for every hour you work.
